This Master Bedroom Makeover One Room Challenge will keep me on track so my project will actually get DONE. Here we go…

If you’ve got a bedroom you’ve been itching to transform, follow along for inspiration as Home and Darlings takes the One Room Challenge. Watch this bedroom transform from a storage room into a master bedroom retreat! Here’s where it begins:

Watch this storage room transform into a master bedroom retreat…

There’s nothing good about it. This mess of a bedroom has an attached bath, but it’s presently being used as a storage room – what a waste of real estate! The door is located to the right so you’re walking into the side of the bed when entering the room. Not at all Fung Shui.

Gotta start somewhere…

First order of business is to purge and switch up the furniture placement. I’m thinking the bed would look far better on the opposite wall.

Here’s that opposite wall now. The treadmill is way too big for this room. Treadmill get to steppin.

One bifold closet door needs fixing, it won’t stay on track…

And here we are, after some purging, with the bed in proper placement:

MUCH better already! (That ceiling fan though, gotta go.)

While this post contains affiliate links which may send me a few coins, I only recommend what I love and it never costs you a cent. If you like what you see, then go through me! 🙂

Clean it up…

Those rug stains have to go. I bought a Bissell steam cleaner since my little pup still has the occasional accident and now I can’t live without it. Totally did the trick here! If you’re sick of looking at carpet stains of any sort, here are two highly rated steam cleaners:

The BISSELL Little Green Multi-Purpose Portable Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, 1400B is REALLY well-priced and very well rated.

And here’s the BISSELL® Little Green® Pro Portable Carpet Cleaner with Disinfectant Formula, 3194. It’s a bit larger and just as highly rated.

You can’t go wrong with either one.

Design plan for the Master Bedroom Makeover One Room Challenge…

And now we get to planning. What do I want this space to feel like? I’m thinking a serene, classic room. A space that has a place for everything and let’s make sure it’s easy to put everything in its place. It should feel near effortless to maintain.

Here’s the mood board I’ve been working on for this Master Bedroom Makeover – One Room Challenge:

Yes, that chair is the INFAMOUSLY comfortable Ikea Poang chair which is now available ON AMAZON! Oh happy day. #gettingit

I feel like this pouf ottoman would look really cool with that chair…hmmm…probably a must-have.

This macrame though… <3

And I’m pretty sure this gorgeous green velvet duvet set is necessary:

This mood board is inspiring me to get moving on it and that’s what I’m about to do…

The general plan, list of things to do and buy for the project:

  • Purge clothes, treadmill and storage items, etc.
  • Steam clean the rug!
  • Fix bifold door
  • Paint doors, including bifold doors, a fresh white (thinking Chantilly Lace, Benjamin Moore)
  • Touch up any paint that needs touching up on the walls (I painted the walls SW Comfort Gray years ago and still LOVE the paint!)
  • Add picture frame molding on wall
  • Blackout curtains with bamboo shades
  • Find desk and chair for wall where bed was
  • Ikea Poang chair from Amazon – a MUST HAVE
  • Ottoman for chair
  • Green velvet duvet
  • Emtek door knobs ? (My favorite!)
  • Area rug
  • End table and lamp
  • Art
  • Greenery
  • Add hooks for organization
  • New hamper
  • New midcentury-type ceiling fan
  • Possibly, maybe DIY a unique floating pendant
