How SWEET is a simple modern farmhouse Valentine kitchen?! Super sweet and it was an EASY transition from Christmas to Valentine’s Day.
Dressing up the chalkboard in the kitchen is a fun way to switch seasons. The holly wreath and the red and white ribbon bow I made for the wreath worked for Christmas and it works just as well for Valentine’s Day. I used the same ribbon to create the garland. Candy canes taken from the Christmas tree look fresh again in a white cup with red trim. A second white and red cup holds heart-shaped lollipops.
Little hearts hang from a tree, pink flowers overflow a metal vase, red and white striped tea towels and a heart graphic round out the buffet vignette. I can’t forget my 10ft plaid Ruggable – LOVE IT! I finished off the look with a Valentine chalking. (See how to chalk like a pro, below.)
Keep your eyes peeled for a tutorial on how to create that Ikea hack buffet…
A Valentine chalking
I used to fail at chalking. I just didn’t know where to start or how to go about any of it. Then I got THE BEST chalking book for Christmas a couple of years ago – The Complete Book of Chalk Lettering, by Valerie McKeehan. If you think you can’t work the chalk, the ONLY thing you need is this book! It doesn’t even matter if you have awful penmanship, like me.
100% RECOMMEND!!
GET IT – This book is THE BEST way to learn to chalk like a professional chalker! (If that were a thing.)
Don’t forget to get your liquid chalk markers! This is an awesome set. It comes with stencils, labels and even a little chalkboard!

The book gives you lots of doodling space to practice what you learn – it’s addicting!
My doodles π
I used chalkboard paint to create the chalkboard in my kitchen since I wanted it to be huge. If you’d rather not tackle that project, this rustic chalkboard has GREAT reviews!
All products are exactly what you see in my space, unless otherwise noted and only because I couldn’t find it!
This cake stand is not the one in my kitchen, but it’s the one I used to have and I LOVED it! It broke when we moved. I loved it because you can change the ribbon with the season and tie the bow in front. SO cute!
These tea towels give a similar look to what I have, minus the rooster.
Would LOVE to hear from you! Comment so I know you’re there. ;D
HAPPY VALENTINE’S !! <3
